A bittersweet story of three childhood friends, the film follows the three childhood friends during their individual adult experiences. It begins with them preparing for their first day of high school in 1988. The trio eventually goes on to college and into adulthood before reconnecting through a chance encounter. The film explores how each member changes as he or she matures, including the choices they make about relationships, career, family, parenting and parenthood. The sequel to ABCD-Defying Borders- opens with beautiful scenes of adults riding horses in Central America. Right in the middle of one of their horse races, they are interrupted by a group of women in colorful dresses. It turns out that the women are protesting against an American pharmaceutical company that is contaminating all their water sources. The men end up helping them in their fight against the company, who are trying to take over the land by destroying their homes. The story then cuts to another location where one of our protagonists, Manav (Varun Dhawan), is getting ready for his wedding to his long-time girlfriend, Naina (Genelia D'Souza). As the movie progresses, Naina begins to wonder if Manav truly loves her or if he is marrying her because she is pregnant with his child. During the course of their relationship, Naina gets pregnant but Manav tells her that she can have an abortion. Much later in the movie, Naina reveals that she never had an abortion. The next scene shows all three of them as adults, living their own lives. Rahul (Siddharth Malhotra) is interning at a major TV network in New York City where he meets Usha (Nathalia Kaur). After some time, they start seeing each other and begin what appears to be a long distance relationship. Meanwhile, Dev (Imran Khan) is living in London and working as a chef. He meets and falls in love with a young, married woman (Gemma Arterton). Eventually, Dev decides to move to England but not before he sees Rahul and Usha falling in love. Dev leaves for England and they start their life together. The three friends reunite at Rahul and Usha's wedding and this time, Manav presumes that Rahul has asked Usha to marry him as a replacement for Dev -- who mysteriously disappeared from the family home months earlier after having his marriage to Naina annulled. This doesn't surprise anyone since no one had seen or heard from him since that day. After the wedding, Rahul drops Usha off at home and she proposes to him. After a few dates, he hesitantly agrees to marriage. The next day, they go about their regular daily routines but when Usha gets to work she is told that her presence is not required as she has been fired from the network because she was pregnant with Rahul's child. She then confronts Rahul about what happened and he tells her that he has no recollection of any of it as he was drunk the night before.
