The Titanic is a 1997 American epic romance-disaster film directed, written, co-produced, co-edited and partly financed by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater. In 1997, a team of British film makers brainstormed to create a full version of the movie for the American market. They believed that the public would search for such a version when they heard that James Cameron had made an American version based on his own imagination.
