The Titanic is a 1997 American epic romance-disaster film directed, written, co-produced, co-edited and partly financed by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater. Cameron's intention was for audiences to "experience the oceanic disaster with a kind of immediacy" never before felt in cinema. The film went on to become by far the highest grossing at that time and won 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director for James Cameron. This film beat the Titanic's predecessors "Titanic" and "A Night To Remember" in terms of votes in the awards. It was nominated for 11 Oscars in 1997 and won four: Best Director (James Cameron), Best Cinematography (Ricardo de Montreuil), Best Original Song (Bing Crosby/Susan Rogers) and Best Visual Effects (John Knoll, Vincent Cirelli, Gary Summers, Kate Williams). In 1997, a team of British film makers brainstormed to create a full version of the movie for the American market. They believed that the public would search for such a version when they heard that James Cameron had made an American version based on his own imagination. The team is composed of the following: The film was shot in 1997 at Baguio, Mount Pinatubo and Padre Burgos. A little-known fact is that the movie was shot on videotape. It wasn't until post-production that the whole film was transferred to 35mm, becoming one of – if not – the first Filipino made film to be shot on video with a digital transfer to 35mm format. The film was given a limited screening in Metro Manila and in select cities in Luzon: Quezon City, Sorsogon, Cavite, Bacolod and Cebu. The film was also shown in select cinemas in the United States. The last public screening of the film was on April 12, 2007 during the Titanic gathering at Cine Adarna. The video version has been out of print since its release. It is one of the rarest Philippine films ever made. Movies that were produced by Unitel 100% Entertainment International Inc. are ""The Pirates of Orion"", ""Deathrow"", "Hellhole" and "Titanic". The company was dissolved in the year 2000. The President of Unitel 100% Entertainment International Inc. was former Philippine Basketball Association player and TV commentator, Freddie Webb. cfa1e77820
